On April 1, 2023, 63-year-old William "Bill" Gleason Hitchcock Jr. was found deceased at his residence in Elizabethton, Tennessee. His body was discovered by fishermen on the Watauga River, who noticed him lying unresponsive in the driveway behind his home on Old Stoney Creek Road. Upon arrival, authorities determined that Hitchcock had suffered a fatal gunshot wound.
