On June 15, 2023, a tragic incident occurred in Sequatchie, Tennessee, resulting in the deaths of six individuals, including 2-year-old Nicholas Jaden Perez. The event was identified as a murder-suicide perpetrated by 48-year-old Gary Barnett. The victims included Nicholas's mother, 34-year-old Brittnee Nicole Perez; his sisters, 11-year-old Vanessa Nicole Perez and 6-year-old Lilyana Perez; and his grandmother, 52-year-old Regina Ann Barnett.
