In the early morning hours of Monday, August 21, 2023, tragedy struck a home in the Hickory Hill area of Memphis, Tennessee. Nineteen-year-old Jacquez Deshun Groves was asleep in his residence on the 3400 block of Kirby Parkway when the sound of gunfire shattered the pre-dawn quiet at approximately 4:15 a.m. An unknown vehicle had pulled up to the house, and its occupants opened fire, sending a volley of bullets into the dwelling.
