On a Sunday morning in October 2023, the body of 14-year-old Nahomi Hernandez, a female from Honduras, was discovered in the parking lot of the Mi Casa Mexican Restaurant in Monteagle, Tennessee. An off-duty Franklin County Sheriff's Deputy came upon the scene on the morning of October 8th, finding the young girl lying in the middle of the restaurant's parking lot on West Main Street.
The discovery prompted an immediate response from the Monteagle Police Department, the Marion County Sheriff's Department, and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
The subsequent investigation into the teenager's death determined that she was the victim of a homicide. An autopsy revealed that Nahomi had been shot twice, sustaining wounds to her thigh and her chest. The examination also brought forth another tragic detail: at the time of her murder, she was 20 weeks pregnant. Her death is being investigated as the murder of both the young girl and her unborn child.
