Anthony Shane Tate, a 29-year-old male of Caucasian ethnicity, was a Deputy Sheriff with the Grundy County Sheriff's Department in Tennessee. On June 5, 2008, Deputy Tate was fatally shot while serving a probation warrant on a suspect in Monteagle, TN. The suspect, identified as Kermit Eugene Bryson, also shot a Monteagle police officer before fleeing the scene. Bryson was later located at a home and committed suicide as officers attempted to negotiate his surrender.
