In the quiet area of Lakewood Park in Beechgrove, Tennessee, a confrontation on July 24, 2024, turned deadly for Thomas Anthony Randolph. The 37-year-old man was sitting in the passenger seat of a truck when he was fatally shot. The bullet entered through his neck, and although the vehicle he was in traveled a short distance before stopping near Shiloh Road, Randolph did not survive his injuries.
Responding to the scene, Coffee County Sheriff's deputies quickly located both the victim and the alleged shooter. The suspect was identified as 40-year-old Phillip Lee Meadows. An investigation into the incident suggested that following a confrontation between the two men, Meadows allegedly opened fire into the vehicle where Randolph was seated.
Following a brief on-scene investigation, Meadows was taken into custody and transported to the Coffee County Jail. He has since been charged with first-degree murder, aggravated assault, and tampering with evidence. Authorities have stated that Meadows allegedly took steps to hide the firearm used in the shooting before law enforcement arrived. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation assisted in the investigation by analyzing the bullet's trajectory. Meadows is being held without bond and is scheduled for a court appearance.
