On January 13, 2023, 24-year-old Lorenzo Dwight Driggins Jr., affectionately known as "Renny," was fatally shot in Chester, Pennsylvania. The incident occurred at a city apartment complex, where Driggins was pronounced dead at the scene. He was a beloved son, father, and family member, remembered for his love of music, laughter, and his deep bond with his family, especially his son, Jeremiah Zah’Ki Womack.
Following the shooting, Chester police identified 26-year-old Everton H.
Hedgebeth as the primary suspect in Driggins' death. Hedgebeth was considered armed and dangerous, and authorities issued a public alert seeking information on his whereabouts. He was subsequently apprehended and charged with the murder of Driggins.
In a court proceeding held at the Media Courthouse, Hedgebeth was found guilty of first-degree murder for the shooting death of Driggins. The court sentenced him to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
