On January 17, 2023, at approximately 11:27 p.m., a tragic shooting occurred inside the Shangri-La Chinese Restaurant located on the 5400 block of Chester Avenue in Southwest Philadelphia. Nineteen-year-old Johron Jones, a resident of the same block, was among the victims. He sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the head and torso. Emergency responders transported him to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
