On February 25, 2023, 37-year-old Brian Edwards of Nanticoke, Pennsylvania, was fatally shot while seated in his Ford pickup truck on Jifkin Street. Responding to reports of gunfire around 3:45 p.m., emergency personnel transported Edwards to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival. An autopsy confirmed that Edwards died from a gunshot wound, and the Luzerne County Coroner ruled his death a homicide.
