On March 15, 2023, at approximately 2:38 a.m., Philadelphia Police officers responded to reports of a shooting on the 3200 block of Wharton Street. Upon arrival, they found evidence of gunfire but no victim at the scene. Shortly thereafter, 19-year-old Shikron Baynard was transported to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in a private vehicle, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds across his body.
