On April 5, 2023, 14-year-old Kyle Lowman was tragically shot and killed in Darby, Pennsylvania. The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. inside a residence on South 7th Street. Authorities reported that Lowman was shot 21 times by 17-year-old Shawn Parker from Greensboro, Maryland. The two teenagers had a history of personal disputes, which escalated fatally that evening.
According to Delaware County District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer, the conflict was not related to drugs but stemmed from personal disagreements, possibly involving social media or neighborhood interactions. Parker allegedly waited for Lowman inside the home and, upon his arrival, opened fire. After Lowman fell, Parker reportedly continued to shoot, resulting in a total of 21 gunshot wounds. Witnesses indicated that Parker fled the scene immediately after the shooting.
Law enforcement responded swiftly, apprehending Parker within 15 minutes of the incident. He was charged with first-degree murder and is being held without bail. A preliminary hearing was scheduled for April 19, 2023. Investigators noted that Lowman was also found with a firearm and had fired once before collapsing, though his mother disputes this claim. She described Kyle as an intelligent and leadership-oriented individual who had felt unsafe in their neighborhood. Savage had been seeking to relocate due to concerns about local crime but faced financial constraints as a single mother. She is now considering establishing a nonprofit organization to help steer children away from violence, ensuring her son's death is not in vain.
