On May 29, 2023, 31-year-old Jacob Christian Smith of Pulaski, Pennsylvania, died from a gunshot wound to the chest in what authorities have described as a violent altercation with his wife. The incident unfolded at a park-and-ride in Muddy Creek Township, near Portersville. A passerby discovered the scene and alerted the authorities.
