On May 29, 2023, at approximately 5:30 p.m., Pennsylvania State Police responded to a report of two individuals with gunshot wounds at a park-and-ride facility along Perry Highway in Muddy Creek Township, Butler County. Upon arrival, officers discovered 28-year-old Jenna Christine Smith lying beside a Chrysler 300 and her husband, 31-year-old Jacob Christian Smith, in the passenger seat of the vehicle.
