On the evening of September 14, 2023, at approximately 9:16 p.m., Philadelphia Police responded to reports of gunfire at an apartment located on the 4900 block of Longshore Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered 37-year-old Maurice Cheatham inside his residence, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The officers immediately transported him to Thomas Jefferson-Torresdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:51 p.m.
