On a late November night in 2023, a dispute between two men in Providence Township, Pennsylvania, ended in tragedy. Aiden Kimmet, a 25-year-old male, was fatally shot on Monday, November 27, inside a residence on the 60 block of Main Street. The events of that evening unfolded after Kimmet went to the home where an altercation with Bryan Charles Hollister, 24, occurred.
Earlier in the evening, Hollister was at the residence with a woman with whom both he and Kimmet had a relationship.
After the woman returned home from a work party, she spoke with Kimmet on the phone. Although she was unsure if he was coming over, she suggested that Hollister should leave. Despite a warning from the woman's mother not to enter, Kimmet went inside the house and into a bedroom where Hollister was present. An argument quickly escalated, leading to the fatal shooting.
According to a witness, Hollister stepped back, drew a. 9 millimeter pistol, and shot the unarmed Kimmet, who immediately fell to the ground. After a brief pause, Hollister fired two more shots, striking Kimmet in the torso and the head. Emergency services were called to the scene, and Kimmet was transported to Lancaster General Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Pennsylvania State Police arrested Bryan Hollister, who was charged with first-degree murder, assault, possession of an instrument of a crime, and recklessly endangering another person. Hollister was committed to Lancaster County Prison after his bail was denied. Following a preliminary hearing where a witness recounted the events of the shooting, a judge ruled that Hollister would face all charges, including first-degree murder, in the Lancaster County Court of Common Pleas. Investigators noted inconsistencies in Hollister's statements following the incident.
