The horrific events unfolded inside her family's home on Lewis Avenue, where three generations of the Le family resided. An argument broke out between Nakayla and her 43-year-old uncle, Canh V. Le. The dispute escalated with unimaginable speed as Canh Le retrieved a semi-automatic rifle and shot his niece. The sound of gunfire prompted Nakayla's grandparents to flee the house and call 911, reporting that their granddaughter had been shot.
Before police could intervene, the situation spiraled into a devastating massacre. Canh Le proceeded to shoot and kill Nakayla's parents, 40-year-old Xuong Le and 37-year-old Britni McLaughlin-Le, and her 17-year-old sister, Natalya Le.
