In the late hours of a February night in Philadelphia, a grim discovery was made in the historic Fairmount Park. Forty-nine-year-old Thurston Cooper, a Black male, and a female companion, 38-year-old Krystina Chambers, were found fatally shot along the side of Mount Pleasant Drive. The call to police came in just before 11 p.m. on Thursday, February 29, 2024, after a passerby stumbled upon the scene. When medics arrived, both Cooper and Chambers were pronounced dead at the scene.
