On April 10, 2024, in Manheim, Pennsylvania, 63-year-old Diane Shepherd was tragically killed in a murder-suicide incident involving her husband, 71-year-old Mark Shepherd. The Northern Lancaster County Regional Police Department responded to reports of a shooting at the Shepherds' residence on the 300 block of Sun Hill Road in Penn Township around 4:05 a.m.
Upon arrival, officers discovered both Diane and Mark deceased inside the home. Extended family members present at the time reported awakening to a loud domestic argument between the couple, followed by multiple gunshots. Investigators determined that Mark Shepherd fired multiple shots from a revolver, fatally wounding Diane, before taking his own life with the same weapon.
Diane Shepherd was a dedicated healthcare professional, having worked for 45 years at Cedar Haven, most recently as a Unit Care Coordinator. She was known for her infectious smile, contagious laughter, and unwavering commitment to her family and friends. Her passing was deeply mourned by her son, grandchildren, siblings, and colleagues.
