On May 22, 2024, a tragic incident unfolded at Delaware County Linen in Chester, Pennsylvania, resulting in the deaths of two brothers, Leovanny Peña-Peña, 29, and his younger brother, Giguenson Peña-Peña, 26. Both originally from Moca, Dominican Republic, the brothers had emigrated to the United States with aspirations of providing better opportunities for their family.
They were known for their dedication to work, strong family values, and active participation in their local church community.
The tragic event began when a long-time employee of the company, 61-year-old Wilbert Rosado-Ruiz, engaged in a verbal altercation with a female co-worker. Following the dispute, Rosado-Ruiz exited the building to make a phone call, then returned armed with a handgun. He proceeded to methodically walk through the facility, opening fire on his colleagues. Surveillance footage captured his calm demeanor during the attack.
In addition to the fatal shootings of Leovanny and Giguenson, three other employees sustained injuries, including the woman involved in the initial argument. After the shooting, Rosado-Ruiz fled the scene but was apprehended shortly thereafter by local law enforcement. He has been charged with multiple offenses, including first-degree murder, aggravated assault, and recklessly endangering another person. Authorities noted that while Rosado-Ruiz legally owned the firearm used in the attack, he lacked the necessary license to carry a concealed weapon, resulting in additional firearms charges.
In the aftermath of this senseless act of violence, the Chester community has been left in mourning. The Peña-Peña brothers are remembered for their unwavering commitment to their family and their faith.
