On May 31, 2024, 40-year-old Michael J. Alfonse of East Earl, Pennsylvania, was fatally shot in the head during an apparent road rage incident on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Lancaster County. The shooting occurred around 1:15 p.m. near mile marker 291.3 in Brecknock Township. Alfonse was transported to Reading Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on June 3, 2024.
