In the early evening of June 3, 2024, tragedy struck in the city of Chester, Pennsylvania, when 33-year-old Richard Lee Beauford, a Black male, was fatally shot. The incident occurred at approximately 5:59 p.m. in the 400 block of Frank Young Avenue. Officers from the Chester Police Department responded to reports of a shooting and found Beauford lying in the street with multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical personnel provided immediate aid at the scene before transporting him to a
nearby hospital. Despite their efforts, Richard Lee Beauford succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The Chester Police Department subsequently launched a homicide investigation into his death.
As of late December 2024, the investigation into Beauford's murder remains active and ongoing. Law enforcement officials have been canvassing the area for witnesses and gathering evidence, but have not yet publicly identified any suspects in connection with the shooting. No arrests have been made in the case. Authorities have made a public appeal for information and are urging anyone with knowledge of the crime to come forward to assist in the investigation.
