On July 6, 2024, at approximately 5:48 p.m., Bensalem Police responded to reports of a shooting at the Bucks Meadows Apartments, located at 3131 Knights Road in Bensalem, Pennsylvania. Upon arrival, officers discovered 40-year-old Jose Miguel Tenorio-Ruiz lying near the rear parking lot with a gunshot wound to his torso. Despite immediate life-saving efforts and transportation to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital, Tenorio-Ruiz was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
Witnesses at the scene informed police that prior to the shooting, Tenorio-Ruiz had a minor physical altercation with 31-year-old Abel Mendoza-Ramirez, a resident of the Bucks Meadows Apartments. Following the initial confrontation, Mendoza-Ramirez reportedly retrieved a semi-automatic handgun from his vehicle, returned to the scene, and fired two rounds into the ground near Tenorio-Ruiz. When Tenorio-Ruiz attempted to disarm him, Mendoza-Ramirez fired again, striking Tenorio-Ruiz in the torso. Mendoza-Ramirez then fled the scene in a Ford van.
Approximately an hour later, at around 6:40 p.m., a Newtown Township police officer spotted the suspect's vehicle and conducted a traffic stop at 600 Newtown-Yardley Road, in front of the Newtown Cemetery. Mendoza-Ramirez was taken into custody without incident. He was subsequently charged with Criminal Homicide, First-Degree Murder, Third-Degree Murder, and Possession of an Instrument of Crime. Following his arraignment by District Justice Joseph Falcone, Mendoza-Ramirez was remanded to the Bucks County Correctional Facility without bail.
