On November 3, 2024, at approximately 4:30 a.m., Allegheny County Police responded to a reported shooting at a residence on McKinnie Avenue in Stowe Township, Pennsylvania. Upon arrival, officers discovered 39-year-old Carlo Hose Stanford Sr. with multiple gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to a criminal complaint, a witness present during the incident reported that both they and Stanford heard a noise inside the home and went to investigate. When they opened the front door, they found 34-year-old Curtis Horne-Baker hiding behind a pillar on the porch. As they attempted to lock the door, Horne-Baker allegedly kicked it in and fired seven to eight shots at Stanford. The witness indicated that all three individuals were previously acquainted.
Later that day, Horne-Baker was apprehended without incident in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania. He has been charged with criminal homicide, burglary, and firearms violations in connection with Stanford's death.
Stanford, a resident of Pittsburgh, was the father of seven children: Carlos Jr., Carleigh, Adris, Shieara, Cianna, Kioni, and Charm. He was the son of Janine Stanford and Rodney Jones, and had several siblings. A memorial service was held on November 13, 2024, at the Lighthouse Church in Pittsburgh.
