On the evening of February 7, 2023, a tragic shooting occurred at a residence in the 1100 block of Bunce Road in Fayetteville, North Carolina. The incident resulted in the deaths of 26-year-old Terrance Jai'Quahn Melvin, 33-year-old Johnathan Alexander McMillian, and Melvin's six-month-old daughter, Ny'Lynn Rose Marie Melvin. Fayetteville Police Department officers responded to the scene around 8:30 p.m., discovering Melvin and McMillian deceased from gunshot wounds inside the home.
The infant, Ny'Lynn, was found critically injured and was transported to a nearby hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
Investigators determined that the shooting was not a random act, indicating that the individuals involved were known to each other. Family members reported that Melvin was holding his daughter when the shooting occurred. Despite the ongoing investigation, as of December 2024, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified in connection with the case.
Terrance Melvin was a resident of Fayetteville, born on August 31, 1996. He is remembered as a loving father, leaving behind a five-year-old son, Sen’cere. Funeral services for Melvin and his daughter, Ny'Lynn, were held on February 18, 2023, at Conference B Headquarters in Fayetteville, providing an opportunity for family and friends to mourn their untimely passing.
