On February 12, 2023, 27-year-old African American male Marquavious JaQuan "Jay Rock" White was fatally shot in Pineville, North Carolina. The incident occurred around 1 a.m. near Industrial Drive, close to the intersection of Interstate 485 and South Boulevard. White was found deceased inside a vehicle, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. A juvenile who was with him at the time of the shooting managed to escape and seek help.
