Derrick Dion Barber, a 25-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on July 15, 2021, in Pineville, North Carolina. Derrick, affectionately known as "Nuke," was a 2015 graduate of Butler High School in Matthews. He was survived by his parents, grandmothers, two brothers, and extended family. Derrick was soon to be a father, adding to the heartbreak of his untimely death.
