On April 24, 2023, in Lumberton, North Carolina, 3-year-old Legacy Alford tragically lost her life due to a gunshot wound. The incident occurred around 3 p.m. in the vicinity of Singletary Church Road and Highway 211 East. Before law enforcement arrived, a private citizen attempted to transport Legacy to UNC Health Southeastern Medical Center. En route, they were met by Robeson County EMS, who took over and transported her to the hospital. Despite their efforts, Legacy succumbed to her injuries.
