On May 7, 2023, a tragic shooting occurred in Whiteville, North Carolina, resulting in the deaths of 20-year-old Nikolus Maurice Bellamy and 19-year-old Tylek Rashad Bellamy. Both were former star players for the Whiteville High School football team.
