On June 11, 2023, at approximately 2:45 a.m., Greensboro police responded to a reported assault in the 4500 block of West Market Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered 21-year-old Kayla Peterson suffering from a gunshot wound. She was promptly transported to Moses Cone Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries later that day.
