On August 2, 2023, at approximately 9:25 a.m., the Wake County Sheriff's Office responded to a reported shooting in the 8200 block of Fieldcrest Lane in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina. Upon arrival, deputies discovered 49-year-old Robert William "Robbie" Barton with multiple gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
