On September 2, 2023, at approximately 6:00 a.m., 64-year-old Dianne Sturdivant Davis was fatally shot while leaving a residence on Orchard Trace Lane in north Charlotte, North Carolina. Witnesses reported that two men confronted Davis, leading to an argument that tragically escalated when she was shot. The assailants then stole her 2019 silver Nissan Rogue and fled the scene.
Following the shooting, the stolen vehicle was used in a series of crimes, including the robbery of a cell phone store and a Subway restaurant in Gastonia, North Carolina. These incidents were part of a broader crime spree that spanned multiple counties.
On January 2, 2024, after a thorough investigation, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) detectives arrested 26-year-old Jeremy James Kordell Thrasher in connection with Davis's murder. Thrasher was charged with murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, and felony conspiracy. He was subsequently booked into the Mecklenburg County Detention Center.
