On September 3, 2023, at approximately 6:19 p.m., Mayodan Police Department officers responded to reports of a shooting at the Food Lion parking lot on Burton Street in Mayodan, North Carolina. Upon arrival, they discovered 18-year-old Chandler Wayne Bullins, a resident of Mayodan, suffering from a single gunshot wound to the chest. Emergency medical services transported Bullins to UNC Health Rockingham in Eden, where he was pronounced dead.
