On November 26, 2023, at approximately 9:22 a.m., the Sampson County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of gunfire near the end of Tanner Lane in Autryville, North Carolina. Upon arrival, deputies discovered four individuals deceased near two tents in a wooded area, identified as a homeless encampment. The victims were:

- **Daniel Jay Wiltshire**, 44, of Autryville
- **Amber Rae King**, 43, of Autryville
- **Carrie Nichole Trampel**, 41, of Autryville
