On December 2, 2023, at approximately 8:37 p.m., Raleigh Police Department officers responded to a shooting in the 100 block of Summit Avenue, located in the Caraleigh neighborhood just south of downtown Raleigh, North Carolina. Upon arrival, they discovered 22-year-old Nicolas Ricardo Carrasco Domenech suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
In the days following the incident, authorities arrested 23-year-old Marcus Anthony Fletcher of Durham, charging him with murder in connection to Carrasco Domenech's death. Nearly a year later, on November 25, 2024, a second suspect, 22-year-old Emmanuel Ajene Jones, also of Durham, was arrested and charged with murder and felony obstruction of justice. Court records indicate that Jones allegedly misled homicide detectives and conspired to remove and destroy evidence related to the case between January 27 and March 24, 2024.
Both Fletcher and Jones are currently held without bail in the Wake County jail. Jones is scheduled for arraignment on December 9, 2024, at the Wake County courthouse. The investigation remains active, with authorities urging anyone with additional information to contact the Raleigh Police Department or Crime Stoppers.
Nicolas Ricardo Carrasco Domenech, originally from Belleville, New Jersey, was residing in Raleigh at the time of his passing. Born on August 31, 2001, he was remembered by family and friends for his vibrant personality and the joy he brought to those around him. Funeral services were held under the care of Lori's Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Raleigh.
