On December 14, 2023, 26-year-old Zachary Taylor Locklear of Maxton, North Carolina, was fatally shot at 79 Dreamcatcher Drive in Pembroke. Responding to reports of a shooting around 7:00 p.m., Robeson County Sheriff's deputies found Locklear with a gunshot wound. He was transported to UNC Health Southeastern Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The following day, December 15, 2023, 26-year-old Quinton Robert Brayboy of Lumberton surrendered to authorities. He was charge ...
