On December 16, 2023, at approximately 1:16 p.m., the Northampton County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a shooting near Highway 301, just outside Garysburg, North Carolina. Upon arrival, deputies discovered 25-year-old Eric Kendall of Weldon lying on the side of the highway, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body. Emergency medical services transported Kendall to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead due to his injuries.
