Death by Force

On December 21, 2023, at approximately 8:40 p.m., deputies from the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a shooting in the 5400 block of Miranda Drive near Hope Mills, North Carolina. Upon arrival, they discovered 33-year-old Duane S. Quarles Jr., a resident of Plainfield, New Jersey, unresponsive outside the residence with gunshot wounds. Emergency medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.
