On the evening of March 2, 2024, at approximately 7:35 p.m., Gaston County Police responded to a reported cardiac arrest at a residence on Lane Road in Mount Holly, North Carolina. Upon arrival, officers discovered 38-year-old Juan Luis Correa, a resident of Mint Hill, lying in the yard with a gunshot wound. Despite immediate life-saving efforts, Correa was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigations revealed that Correa had been involved in a physical altercation prior to the shooting. Detectives identified the other individual involved in the confrontation; however, authorities have not disclosed the person's identity. The Gaston County Police Department is collaborating with the Gaston County District Attorney’s Office to determine the appropriate course of action. As of now, no charges have been filed, and it remains unclear whether the shooting was an act of self-defense or if other circumstances were at play.
