Isaac Geovanni Arawo Lorenzo, a 30-year-old man, was tragically killed on November 11, 2018, in Mount Holly, North Carolina. Initially, police responded to a report of a stabbing at 407 Louise Avenue, where they found Lorenzo with what appeared to be a stab wound to the chest. He was transported to CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia, where he was pronounced dead.
Upon further examination by the Medical Examiner's office, it was determined that Lorenzo had actually suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the chest.
The investigation into Lorenzo's death led to the arrest of multiple suspects. Kayla Ciara Rankin, a 23-year-old woman from Cornelius, North Carolina, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder. Rankin was booked into Gaston County Jail and held without bond. Additionally, Breonia McLean, a 24-year-old, and Raymond Murphy, a 26-year-old, were also arrested and charged with first-degree murder. Both McLean and Murphy were held in Gaston County Jail without bond.
The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and it is not known whether Rankin, McLean, or Murphy had any prior connection to Lorenzo. The case marked Mount Holly's first homicide in over 18 months. The police have not provided any additional information regarding the case or the arrests, and the investigation is ongoing.
