On the night of April 6, 2024, at approximately 11:23 p.m., Greensboro Police Department officers responded to a reported assault and shooting in the 3800 block of Belhaven Drive. Upon arrival, they observed an armed individual retreating into a wooded area at the dead end of the street. Utilizing a K-9 unit and drone technology, officers located the suspect, identified as 78-year-old Larry Wendell Hilliard. He surrendered without incident and was taken into custody.
