On the evening of June 7, 2024, at approximately 10 p.m., Gaston County Police responded to reports of a shooting near Pine Street and Shamrock Road in Gastonia, North Carolina. Upon arrival, officers discovered two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to a local hospital, where 38-year-old Ronnie Ray Welch succumbed to his injuries. The second victim was reported to be in stable condition.
