On the morning of August 2, 2024, Raleigh police responded to a shooting incident on Briarmont Court, near Sunnybrook Road. Upon arrival, officers discovered two individuals with gunshot wounds: 51-year-old Sherice D'Angelo McClain and his wife, Yalanda Moore-McClain. Both were transported to a nearby hospital, where Sherice succumbed to his injuries. Yalanda, a former full-time Wake County Sheriff's deputy and current reserve deputy, sustained serious injuries but survived.
