On the night of October 5, 2024, at approximately 11:00 p.m., deputies from the Pitt County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a shooting at a residence on Latham Road in Bethel, North Carolina. Upon arrival, they discovered 25-year-old Elijah Rashawn Everette, known affectionately as "Ocho," deceased from gunshot wounds. Another resident, 47-year-old Thomas Everette Jr., was also targeted but escaped injury.
