On October 19, 2024, 21-year-old Ja'wuane Thomas Baker was fatally shot along the 100 block of Grantham Street in Red Springs, North Carolina. Red Springs Police Chief Sarah Purcell confirmed that Baker was pronounced dead at the scene.
