On October 26, 2024, 30-year-old Brandi Alexis Scott was found unresponsive with a gunshot wound in the 100 block of Elizabeth Street near Whiteville, North Carolina. Emergency responders attempted lifesaving measures, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
During the investigation, detectives identified 71-year-old Fredrick Smith, believed to be Brandi Scott’s boyfriend, as the suspect. Smith was arrested and charged with murder. He is currently being held in the Columbus County
