On October 30, 2024, at approximately 3:19 a.m., Greensboro police responded to a shooting in the parking lot of the Interactive Resource Center (IRC) located at 407 East Washington Street. Upon arrival, officers found 25-year-old Austin Schneider suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds. Despite prompt medical attention, Schneider succumbed to his injuries, marking Greensboro's 37th homicide of the year.
