On February 6, 2023, at approximately 7:30 a.m., Greensboro Police Department officers responded to a report of a deceased individual at a residence on St. Croix Place in Greensboro, North Carolina. Upon arrival, they discovered 21-year-old Quantell Tehmel White inside the residence, deceased from a gunshot wound.
The investigation quickly led to the arrest of 18-year-old Kaylee Gene Abagail Utt Turnipseed, who was charged with first-degree murder in connection with White's death.
Authorities allege that Turnipseed, who was in a relationship with White, shot him and subsequently contacted friends to assist in cleaning up the crime scene. She was apprehended by the Winston-Salem Police Department after individuals reported that she had confessed to the shooting.
During her initial court appearance, prosecutors revealed that Turnipseed had attempted to conceal the crime by seeking help from acquaintances to sanitize the scene. Given the severity of the charges and the alleged efforts to obstruct justice, she was denied bond and remains in custody pending trial.
Quantell Tehmel White was born on February 13, 2001, and was remembered by family and friends during funeral services held on February 25, 2023, at Callands Funeral Home in Greensboro. He was interred at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
