In the late afternoon of March 9, 2023, 36-year-old Jose Uel Sosa, a Black / African American male, was fatally shot in the driveway of his home on Walbridge Avenue in Bay Shore, New York. Sosa had just returned to his residence and was near the garbage cans on the side of his house when the assailant approached him. His wife was inside their home at the time of the incident. The gunman, who was wearing a face mask and dressed entirely in black, fired multiple shots at Sosa from close range.
