An argument in the waning hours of a Sunday afternoon in Phoenix, Arizona, escalated into a fatal shooting that ended the life of Salvador Amador, a man in his mid-thirties. On November 20, 2016, police were called to an area near Thomas Road and 16th Street around 5:15 p.m. where they discovered Salvador Amador with gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a local hospital, but his injuries proved too severe, and he was pronounced dead.
The investigation into the shooting quickly identified two
suspects, Anthony Jacques, then 36, and Anthony Fimbres, who was 28 at the time. Detectives believed that Amador was shot during a dispute that also involved several other people. The disagreement was reportedly connected to Anthony Jacques's girlfriend. According to authorities, during the course of the argument, Jacques and Fimbres went to a nearby apartment to get a gun. It is alleged that Jacques then fired at three men, wounding one and fatally striking Salvador Amador. After the shooting, both suspects fled the scene.
Phoenix police released the names and photos of Jacques and Fimbres to the public, asking for assistance in locating them. They were believed to have fled in a 1989 gold or brown single-cab Chevrolet pickup truck that had a temporary license plate. The manhunt for the two men continued into the new year. In late January 2017, authorities located and arrested Anthony Jacques in Phoenix. His alleged accomplice, Anthony Fimbres, remained a fugitive for several more months. He was finally captured and booked into a Maricopa County jail in December 2017, bringing the search for both suspects in the death of Salvador Amador to a close.
