In the early morning hours of May 28, 2024, a burst of gunfire shattered the pre-dawn quiet at the Sleepy Hollow Apartment Complex in Monticello, New York, leaving a woman dead and a man seriously wounded. The female victim was identified as 48-year-old Amy Redmond of nearby Smallwood. Responding to a 911 call shortly after 12:30 a.m., Village of Monticello Police officers arrived at the Terri Lane apartment complex to find Redmond and an adult male inside a vehicle, both suffering from gunshot
wounds.
The initial investigation suggests that the vehicle had just entered a parking lot when it was fired upon. Emergency services transported Redmond to Garnet Catskill Medical Center in Harris, where she was pronounced dead. The male victim was taken to Garnet Orange Medical Center for treatment of his serious injuries.
The investigation into the fatal shooting was swiftly taken over by the New York State Police, with assistance from the Village of Monticello Police and the Sullivan County District Attorney's Office. Law enforcement officials have appealed to the public for any information regarding the incident and have stated that all tips can be kept confidential.
