In the early morning hours of November 8, 2024, the life of 19-year-old Kyamonie Aquay'jah Davis was tragically cut short on Faxton Street in Utica, New York. A recent graduate of T.R. Proctor High School, Kyamonie was a devoted mother to her young daughter, Ka'lani. Responding to the sound of multiple gunshots, Utica Police discovered Kyamonie with a fatal gunshot wound to her chest and an unidentified male who had been shot in the back.
Both were rushed to Wynn Hospital, where, despite extensive life-saving efforts, Kyamonie succumbed to her injuries. The male victim survived the shooting.
The investigation into the senseless violence that took a young mother's life led to significant developments in the following weeks. On November 26, 2024, after executing search warrants at two locations, the Utica Police, in collaboration with the Oneida County District Attorney's Office and the Oneida County Sheriff's Office, arrested 18-year-old Quadir Pinkney. He was subsequently charged with second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
Further progress in the case came on December 2, 2024, when an Oneida County Grand Jury handed down indictments for three individuals in connection with Kyamonie's death. This led to the arrest of a second suspect, 19-year-old Dion Ahemti, who was also charged with second-degree murder. A third individual has been indicted, but their identity has not been publicly released as they remain at large. The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force is actively engaged in the search for this third suspect. The community continues to mourn the loss of a vibrant young woman as the legal process for the accused moves forward.
